The collection consists of correspondence and supporting materials related to records search requests for Quaker genealogical research. The collection includes volumes of extracts from the records of various Monthly Meetings concerning births, deaths, marriages, and relocations of individuals; volumes that summarize records search requests; volumes with clippings from [Friends?] newspapers requesting (and providing) information related to particular record searches; correspondence regarding genealogical research between the library and patrons (often providing more detail on the records search requests listed in the ledgers); and correspondence relating to Barbados Quakers.

Mount Holly Monthly Meeting was established in 1776 by Burlington Quarterly Meeting out of Burlington Monthly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the Meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. The Orthodox Meeting was discontinued in 1828 ; its members were transferred to Burlington Monthly Meeting (Orthodox).
